FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program
Citizens State Bank is participating in the FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Also included are low-interest NOW accounts (NOW accounts that cannot earn more than 0.25% interest) and IOLTA accounts. This unlimited insurance coverage is temporary and will remain in effect through December 31st, 2010. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.
Our bank has chosen not to participate in the FDIC Debt Guarantee Program. We are well positioned to meet the needs of our customers without that program. Therefore, we didn't think it was necessary or appropriate for our bank to take this option.
The FDIC standard maximum deposit insurance amount (SMDIA) of $250,000 per depositor is now permanent.
