Vein Disease? Disease occurs when veins have trouble carrying blood from your legs back to your heart. The main cause is heredity. You are at higher than average risk if your mother or grandmother-or even someone on your father's side suffers from serious vein problems. And, due to pregnancy, women are more often affected than men.
EVLT may be the answer for you...Endo Venous Laser Treatment (EVLT) is the "No More Surgical Stripping" treatment of varicose veins. It is for the treatment of Varicose Veins and varicosities associated with the superficial reflux of the greater and/or lesser saphenous vein. EVLT provides closure of the saphenous vein in the office, under local anesthesia. There is no hospital stay and no general anesthesia. Return to normal activity immediately - with little or no pain.
Sclerotherapy (Chemical Injections) The use of sclerosing agents in the treatment of diseased varicose veins. Sclerotherapy is a simple in-office procedure whereby a solution is injected directly into the vein which causes an irritation in the inner wall of a vein resulting in sclersoing or collapse of the vein. When the vein is collapsed, it no longer carries blood and is therefore no longer visible. Injections are done with a very fine needle during a 15 to 30 minute session. The treatments are repeated, if needed, at six to eight week intervals until the desired result has been obtained. Treatments can be spaced at longer intervals if necessary.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy This procedure is used for the removal of varicose veins through multiple stab incisions, small punctures performed on an ambulatory, outpatient basis in the office utilizing local anesthesia. The incisions do not require skin sutures and surgery is followed by compression stocking garment and immediate ambulation.
