When going through post-concussion syndrome, you'll always complain about your complicated health. You might notice constant pain in your head or dizziness every time you walk.

Not just that, it has become hard for you to remember things. Having a conversation with people has become burdensome; you have a hard time following what they say.

These are a few of the most common problems patients face when post-concussions. Living with this syndrome is a challenging experience; people don't understand and constantly feel overwhelmed.

Some people wait for too long until the symptoms worsen, causing more damage than expected. In this article, let us discuss what it is like living with the syndrome.

How to deal with the condition and what works best for patients, to live a healthy, everyday pain-free life.

What causes post-concussion syndrome?

Your brain responds to the mild injury, just like the other part of your body. Having injuries in other areas is expected. But bruising, swelling, and inflammation in the brain are pretty severe. With injuries in the head, a temporary breakdown of the cell called a neuron comes.

When this occurs, it causes complications to the complex system of communication. It is known as neurovascular coupling (NVC), which disrupts neurons and the blood vessels that supply oxygen.

When NVC works typically, brain cells call and get precise oxygen delivered at a specific time. So, it functions properly, such as remembering something, having a sense of understanding, and more. As it gets dysfunctional, something affects the call and delivery system of oxygen.

With this happening in the brain, it doesn't function as well. It is one of the reasons why people suffer from so many complications like memory loss, headache, forgetting things, and more.

What Is Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS)?

Coping with Post Concussion Syndrome

Trust the process and yourself

Not everyone is aware of post-concussion syndrome. Some doctors don't know the syndrome to be a real thing. Therefore, you have to stay calm and believe in yourself.

Things might not look normal initially, but through medicine and over time, everything will fall into the right place.

Be patient

Post-concussion syndrome brings a lot of challenges to your routine life. You have to handle yourself with love and care along with patience.

Remember healing takes time, and recovery can be in days, weeks, or months. Try to take one step at a time, don't rush!

Open up

Having a conversation with someone you trust, a doctor, family, friend, will help you. A concussion can bring challenges to remembering, recollecting, restoring, or even as essential as talking.

If anything is bothering you, talk it out with your loved ones. They should know your mental state and well-being, and you will get support! There is no shame in admitting that things are hard for you.

Meditate

Calming your mind is the best way of healing from something. When you meditate, your brain is in a relaxed position. The more relaxed and calm your brain is, the better.

Having PCS and staying positive will bring fundamental differences in your life. Through yoga, you can sleep peacefully, feel good, be empowered, and have substantial control over emotions too.

Don't Push Recovery

Never overdo anything only to have a quick recovery from post-concussion syndrome. Always take one step at a time because the brain is complex, and you might be adding more harm than good.

Try to manage typical symptoms; work on one each day! Meditating regularly is an excellent way to feel calm and precisely positive.

Conclusion

Now that you know how it is like to deal with post-concussion syndrome. You also understand what is expected from you when dealing with a condition like this. Therefore make sure you follow the right thing to have quality health and wellbeing.
