Installation and Setup Steps

Step 1: Downloading and installing QuickBooks File Doctor-

² Download the File Doctor tool. 

²  Save the installer somewhere you can easily find it (like your Windows desktop or downloads folder).

² Open the file you downloaded named as QBFD.exe.

² Follow the onscreen steps to install the tool and when it finishes, the tool should run automatically. If it doesn't, double-click the File Doctor icon on your Windows desktop.

Step 2:  Run QuickBooks File Doctor Tool

v Once the QB file doctor tool is up on the screen, hit the Browse option and find QuickBooks company file that is damaged. Thereafter, start the QuickBooks File diagnostics to fix any of the errors you came across while using the QuickBooks software.

v The File Doctor Tool for Window will provide you with two options to make a choice from. Choose the one that’s most close and apt to the issue you encountered.

Ø If you have come across 6000 series error or you think there are chances that your company file is damaged, select Check your file and network and then click on Continue.

Ø If you are facing the following Network problems (Error H101, Error H202, Error H303 or Error H505), select Check network connectivity only and then hit Continue.

v After this enter in your Company File Admin Password when prompted and click Next.

v Choose from the two options of path depending on where the file doctor is running to continue diagnosing and fixing the error.

Ø Select the Workstation option if your computer is connected to the network but doesn’t host your company file). If QuickBooks asks you to share your company file, select No.

Ø Pick the second option, i.e., Server in case you are diagnosing and troubleshooting issues on a QuickBooks Client Computer or even if you are using QuickBooks on single computer, which means the QuickBooks company file isn’t stored or hosted on that computer.

v Wait until QBFD is done diagnosing and fixing any possible error it might find. The time taken for the scan may vary depending upon the size of the QuickBooks Company File, Local Area Network Speed and the severity of the issues with QuickBooks Company File. You must not disrupt the process in between.

v Once the repairing process is over, close QBFD tool.

v Open your company file and if it doesn’t open place a call with QuickBooks technical support team on (844)-888-4666. 

Using Built-in QuickBooks File Doctor:-

Builtin in or internal QB File Doctor helps to identify the error and launches troubleshooting automatically to resolve it for you. After the QBFD window opens, click on the Start option and the tool will start operating to solve the issues.

 v Do not open the company file and open QuickBooks.

v Hit File Menu and then select Utilities.

v Click on Repair File and Network Problems to launch QB File Doctor.

v Click on Browse and select the company file that needs to be diagnosed and repaired and click on Open.

v From the Show Advanced Settings dropdown menu, click on the type of fix you want your damaged file to undergo and then hit Next.

v Using the Admin ID and password for the company file log-in when asked for and select Next.

v Open the QB company file after the diagnosis and repairing process is complete.

Limitations:- 

ü To carry out the process of file uploading and manual repair, it is important to be connected to the internet. 

ü The company file above 2 GB cannot be diagnosed. 

ü QuickBooks File Doctor is available for the UK and US version only.

ü Issue of Data Loss cannot be fixed using QuickBooks File doctor tool.

ü The QuickBooks Repair Tool won’t run if there are multiple QuickBooks versions installed on the computer.
