Hospice in the Pines believes life's end should be as special as its beginning. Our goal is to ensure a terminally ill patient leaves this world the way he arrived—surrounded by family, friends, comfort and care. We focus on meeting the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of our terminally ill patients, thus offering comfort for both the patient and his family. To date more than 8,000 individuals have experienced the loving care and support of Hospice in the Pines.
Hospice in the Pines opened its doors in April, 1986. Based on the philosophy of the hospice movement in England, a group of local citizens established the first—and still the only—non-profit hospice program in the area. Our service area covers a 70-mile radius around the base in Lufkin, Texas and includes 12 counties: Angelina, Cherokee, Houston, Nacogdoches, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Tyler and Walker.
Hospice in the Pines is licensed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services to provide hospice and personal assistance services.

When your favorite person in the whole wide world doesn't have much time and you're doing your best to make her comfortable but feel like you're failing, there's hope. For us it was a good friend that said she was calling Hospice in the Pines.
All of a sudden there was equipment delivered, and the most caring staff arrived at our door and rescued us. Our last days spent together were made so special and easy by the caring staff of Hospice in the Pines.
