The South MacArthur Childrens Ministry is dedicated to supporting families as they lead their children in the spiritual journey. We strive to be like Hur, a man whos claim to fame in the Bible is found in Exodus 17, when he supported the arm of Moses.

The South MacArthur Childrens Ministry is committed to being Hur for our parents, guardians, and families. We do this by working as a team with families to create a Spirit-centered interactions at home and at church.
What We Do:
On Sundays mornings and Wednesday evenings, we have classes for children from 3 months-10 years old. All of our classes are focused on Entering the Storythat is, applying Gods Story (the Bible) to our lives every day. Throughout the year, we also offer periodic parenting classes and family events. Each month, families are invited to get a sneak preview of what their children will be learning at the Family eXperience, and interactive worship and learning environment for entire family. During the week, Little Hearts, our preschool offers excellent classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 2 to 4 year-olds, and the Childrens Discovery Center provides a top-notch Montessori-style education for preschool to kindergarten-aged children. Children’s Discovery center was established in 1977 as a five day a week Montessori school located at South MacArthur church of Christ. The school is licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services. CDC is committed to the Montessori approach to education. The school provides classrooms fully equipped with Montessori materials. This atmosphere provides individualized learning. The child is the center of the environment as he or she makes choices, sets the pace and discovers the joy of victory in a highly challenging academic atmostphere. Basic points of emphasis in the classroom are self-esteem, independence, and respect. A positive approach is emphasized at all times and discipline comes from within the child, based on the natural desire to discover, achieve, and to be a part of an active, self-disciplined group. Teachers work with the students on an individual basis and model quiet respect for the children and the environment.
A variety of special events will provide challenges for students with varied talents and interests. We promote family participation and welcome your assistance. Yearly traditional events include such activities as family field trips, One Mile Fun Run, Thanksgiving or Christmas musicals, class holiday parties, spring musical, Mothers’ Breakfast, Open House, Fun Fair, and much more. A yearly calendar is provided, listing each event and giving parents an opportunity to participate.

2010-2011 ENROLLMENT INFORMATION
Our tuition is based on an annual yearly amount that is divided into 9 1/2 tuition payments, which is a flat rate regardless of holidays, breaks, etc. There is an enrollment fee that pays for snacks and supplies.
The half-day enrollment fee is $250. The full-day enrollment fee is $300. Those students in full-day classes must bring their lunch. To secure a position, we request the enrollment fee plus the half-month tuition be paid at the time of enrollment. Our annual tuition is divided into 9 1/2 payments. This is a flat rate and not dependent upon the number of days in school. We will gladly work with our returning parents. If payment arrangements need to be made, please contact the CDC office. However, we ask that you turn in your enrollment form along with your request, as soon as possible in order to reserve your child’s position in the class. We also provide Visa and Master Card services for your convenience.
Class Times for the 2010-2011 School Year
CLASS TIMES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
8:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. One morning pre-kindergarten class for ages three and four-year-olds
8:15 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. One full day pre-kindergarten class for ages three and four-year-olds
8:15 a.m.. – 3:00 p.m. One full day kindergarten class for ages five and six-year-olds
2010-2011 TUITION SCALE AND ENROLLMENT FEES
CDC TUITION REMAINS CONSISTENT EACH MONTH, REGARDLESS OF DAYS ATTENDED.
There is NO REDUCTION in monthly tuition for September through May.

September through May tuition for full day classes: $525.00 per month
~To enroll for the half day program, you will need to pay: $250 (enrollment fee) plus $188 (1/2 month’s tuition)
~To enroll for the full day program, you will need to pay: $300 (enrollment fee) plus $263 (1/2 month’s tuition)
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE
CDC provides before and after school care for an additional fee. Children are accepted any time after 7:00 a.m. until classes begin at 8:15 a.m. and can remain at school until 5:00 p.m. after classes are dismissed at 3:00 p.m. This service is offered Monday through Friday when school is in session. We do not have year round child care and we do not offer child care when we are out for school holidays.
Before and after school care every morning and afternoon, Monday through Friday is $130.00 per month.
*If part time care is needed or an adjusted schedule, please call us and we will discuss how we can help you by prorating your fee.

CHAMPS Children Have Always Made People Smile
NEED: Recognizing a need for quality childcare for the children attending the neighborhood elementary school, care that many of these families could not afford, SouthMac CHAMPS program began accepting children for after school care on October 16, 1995. We have immediate needs for volunteers especially for Bible Story and Tutoring. If you can be available between 3:00-5:00 any weekday please contact Karen MacDonald.
CAPACITY: We have space for 30 children, K through 5, and are full with a waiting list.

STAFF: There are NO paid staff positions. The SouthMac CHAMPS program has a volunteer director who is present every school day and approximately thirty volunteers who work one day per week. The volunteer staff is made up of eleven couples, young mothers, two men who leave their jobs early one day each week, several retired women, four schoolteachers, and teens from the youth group. They simply love these kids!
LICENSE: Although the State of Texas no longer requires a free program to be licensed, the SouthMac CHAMPS program maintains a current childcare license because of the health and safety measures a license provides.
SUPPORT: The program is supported financially by the members of South MacArthur Church of Christ through a special contribution made each week in the Sunday school classes. We also need good educational C/D programs for the IBM compatible PCs in the Computer Center.

Little Hearts School…loving and teaching Gods children
Little Hearts School has been serving families of two- to four-year-olds for over 30 years. In 1974, it began as a one day program, Thursday School. Over the years, it grew into a school that offered one or two days of classes and that now offers two days of curriculum for the hearts, minds and bodies of many little ones.
Our curriculum has been developed to provide a creative learning experience that teaches Christian principles and achieves our goal of helping each child develop into his/her full potential spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially. It includes Bible, art, music, social studies, library and P.E. Through these activities the children are introduced to basic colors, numbers, and reading readiness.
Our school is open from September until mid-May on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Tuition is $125 per month; except for December, which is $62.50. A nonrefundable registration fee of $75 is due when enrolling your child(ren).
