Willkommen! Welcome to Castroville, Texas - On Line! The official Chamber of Commerce website. Castroville is a historic little town nestled in the Medina River Valley 15 miles west of San Antonio. Rich in history, the town was founded in 1844 by Henri Castro and a small group of colonists mostly from Alsace, France.
The "Little Alsace of Texas" has much to offer including mouth-watering dining, shopping, antique stores and cozy accommodations. For some exercise, put on your walking shoes, follow the signs, and take a self-guided walking tour which highlights the many historic homes and sites around town. Visit the Regional Park which features 126 wooded acres on the Medina River. It's a great place for a picnic or for taking a walk along one of the Hiking Trails. Check the calendar of events page for upcoming events you don't want to miss such as the St. Louis Day Celebration in August, Old Fashion Christmas in December, Fiorella Friday, Friday Night Fever, and Market Trail Days each held every month from March through December!
