Counseling Associates of South Texas has over 30 years of cumulative experience in the field of counseling. Licensed counselors specializing in clinical social work, marriage, family and group psychotherapy, and rehabilitation counseling join with certified trauma specialists and certified custody evaluators to make up a staff of diversified, service oriented individuals.
The counselors provide therapeutic assistance for individuals, the family, and couples in a compassionate and knowledgeable environment. Groups for men, women, seniors, adolescents and children give the participants a beneficial modality to physical, psychological and spiritual growth.
CAST also provides area exclusive Minors in Possession of Alcohol and Tobacco (MIP) classes and hosts a number of weekend retreats, psychodrama trainings and a therapeutic summer camp for children and adolescents.
The University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work and Sam Houston State University students can also experience CAST as their field practicum institute and clinical social workers, mental health providers, addiction professionals, and marriage and family therapists can come to CAST and earn CEU credits.
The therapists at CAST are both observers and participants in the therapeutic journey with their clients. They embrace the idea of "being in the moment with people", which simply means to be both physically and emotionally present for those they serve during the life journey. They believe this requires responding in an individualized manner to meet the need of each person.
For most, the past, present and future have melded into one plane were we continue to repeat the same patterns. By entering into the world of the client, the CAST therapist is able to help the client transform memories and patterns into more productive processes and teach control over life choices.
"Change is the only constant; choosing how and when becomes the challenge."
Understanding the intervention that allows active engagement in change brings a sense of control. This challenge requires training just like any other skill. Personal growth through a therapeutic journey is one way to begin this skill development.
