Happy Hounds believes that most people bring a dog home to have a companion... but, sometimes the day to day issues of housebreaking, chewing, barking, digging, etc. can get in the way. Many times that cute puppy turns into more of a handful than you bargained for and ends up in the backyard or given away. We can teach you how to turn your problem pup into the companion you'd hoped for. With positive training and simple management techniques, you'll be surprised at how quickly your dog learns how to behave.
Trained dogs are happier, owners are happier and it can be a lot of fun in the process. Whether you have a curious puppy or a rambunctious adult, we have a training program that can help. We offer small group classes and private lessons that work around your busy schedule. We also offer a two week board and train program that can give you and your dog a head start in training. Once your dog learns the basics, you may find that training is so much fun that you'll want to join us for agility, freestyle and other fun classes!
Pat Marshall has been training dogs and helping owners with problem behaviors for over 20 years. Pat and her dogs compete and have titles in obedience, agility and flyball, and are now enjoying a new dog sport, canine freestyle. Pat's husband, Jim, is also very involved in doing things with their dogs and particularly enjoys running flyball and playing Frisbee with his Border Collies. Pat and Jim travel around the country together to compete in various sports - they like to win, but they also just like to have fun with their dogs.
In addition to helping owners teach their dogs good manners, Pat works with many dog rescue groups to help find homes for shelter and rescue dogs. Using positive training methods these dogs quickly learn to love training and working. Pat fosters dogs for Border Collie Rescue, TX, a group that helps Border Collies find new families that will love them. Pat has a special love for rescued dogs and most of her dogs are from shelters or rescue groups.
The main reasons that most dogs are given up are behavior problems that could be easily fixed with training and structure. With the proven techniques that Pat has perfected over the years of working with problem pups, she knows she can help you and your dog learn to live happily together!
