Hurricane Season is upon us!
Here are a few pointers that will help you through this storm season

Check the dates on your policies to make sure they are in force
Make sure you contact us when you make updates to your property to make sure property is insured at proper value
Write down your policy numbers on a slip of paper to keep in your wallet or purse in case of evacuation
If a hurricane does hit, and you have a claim to report, but cannot reach our office you can call in your claim directly to the companies:

Or go online to http://www.twia.org/Portals/0/Documents/twia_loss_notice.doc to download a claims form that can be filled out in Microsoft Word and faxed to (512) 899-4953. Do not send "cover sheets" or "transmittals sheets". Do NOT mail a copy after faxing. This will only cause confusion.

Print these instructions and the Windstorm Claims Form to keep with you in case of loss of electricity or inability to access a computer.

HOW ABOUT WAYS TO SAVE YOU MONEY ON YOUR ANNUAL FLOOD PREMIUMS!!
If you are rebuilding and are in a V zone, flood rates can get expensive. The best thing to remember is to build to at least 4 feet above base elevation (to bottom of stringers) in order to get lowest flood rate possible and leave the bottom area completely open. Even the smallest enclosure such as as shower stall can double your flood rates.
You can build an enclosed area below with 3 louvered walls and 1 garage door wall and receive the lower rates (rates as if no enclosure below). If you consider doing this be sure & check with us as to the specifications/requirements. You must follow certain guidelines in order to receive the discounted price.
REBUILDING??? Give us a call before you start for all of the latest rates and rules concerning flood insurance for V Zones. There are certain types of enclosures you can put below and not be charged the higher rates. We can give you the NFIP specifications for these enclosures.
