God wants us all to know and experience the Good News. We at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Marshall, Texas, want to invite people looking for a positive style of worship, learning, fellowship and service to come and experience Gods goodness in a community of friendly Christians.
We are large enough to offer many program opportunities, while small enough to care for our members. We are community minded with a world-wide connection to missions. We have a 160-year tradition with an open heart to where Gods Holy Spirit will lead us in the future.
Take a few minutes to see what we at Cumberland are all about. Come and make a positive difference with us! Pastor Rusty

We hope you have prayed about what you can give to support the ministry of this church during the year 2011 and have your Estimate card ready to bring to the altar today. Our church as well as many others has had a difficult year economically. We are hopeful that the signs of recovery continue and we are able to continue our ministry as God leads us. If you did not bring your card today, please get it to the church office or mail it to us before next Sunday.
SECOND ANNUAL MESSIAH SING
A community-wide "Messiah Sing" will be held in our sanctuary on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7p.m. We will be singing the Christmas portion and Hallelujah Chorus. So if you have ever sung the music before (or always wanted to), here is your opportunity. If you have music, bring it with you, or if not, copies will be provided at the door. For those who do not sing, we hope you will come, listen, and enjoy as we praise God through the singing of this beautiful music with our fellow Christians. Local soloists will be singing the solo movements. Robert Young will be accompanying on the organ, and Ray Herman will be conducting.
MARGIE MULLINGS - 1921-2010
It is with regret and deepest sympathy we note the death of long-time member Margie Mullings. Margie and her husband, J. R., were charter members of this congregation when it was organized in 1984. They were active and faithful members until J.R's death in 1992. Margie continued until health issues forced her to leave, and she was in a nursing home in Missouri for several years before her death. However, she kept her church membership here and was in touch with a number of friends. On Saturday, Oct. 30, a memorial service was held at Fairview Cemetery and her ashes were buried beside her beloved J.R. She is survived by two sons, Bob and Tom Mullings, two daughters, Melissa Mullings and Sarah Gray, ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one brother, three sisters, and a host of other relatives and friends.

MADIE IS HOME Please be much in prayer for the Matt Skinner family as they transition from the hospital to caring for Madie at home. Madie has made much progress since her near-drowning accident on August 25 but still has a long way to go. We praise God that she is steadily improving, and pray for His continued blessings on this young family.
FEEDING GOD'S HUNGRY PEOPLE"
WOMENS MINISTRY QUARTERLY MEETING
Sunday, Nov. 14, 5:00 p.m. in Hutchins Hall. The Executive Committee (all officers and circle chairs) will meet at 4:00 p.m. immediately prior to regular meeting. Le Ila Dixon will give a report on her trip to China this past summer. All women of the church are invited - you do not have to be a member of a circle. La Amistad Nueva will be hostesses.
LOAVES & FISHES OFFERING
In keeping with our "brand", Feeding God's Hungry People", this is an opportunity to participate in a program of literally feeding the hundreds of thousands in the countries of Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam who go to bed hungry every night. This is an outgrowth of the former "Love Loaves" program, with 75% of the offering sent to the Missions Ministry Team of our denomination for distribution and 25% kept here to meet the local hunger needs in our community. Be sure to pick up a box (from the table in the Narthex), and fill it between now and Sunday, Nov. 21 when the filled boxes will be returned. If you want to write a check, put it inside a box and designate it for Loaves & Fishes Offering.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED
Though all committees could use additional members, there is a special need for persons to serve on CHRISTIAN EDUCATION, WORSHIP, HOSPITALITY, PROPERTY, AND RECREATION. All these are important to the ministry of our church, so we ask you to prayerfully consider how you can best serve.
WORKERS FOR HOMELESS SHELTER NEEDED
Dave and Carolyn Snow are creating a homeless shelter and need lots of help with cleaning, painting, carpentry, and miscellaneous chores. They have bought an older building and placed it on land that they bought. It will be able to house 6-10 people who need a place to stay. The Missions and Evangelism Committee is encouraging all our members and friends to come and help the Snows get the building fixed up and ready for service. We encourage our young adults to help make this a project of special interest. Call Joe Cucinotta at 903-926-0871 for more information. Gather at 2612 Elysian Fields Rd. (east of Sonic, look for black mail box).
FORMER PASTOR REV. CORDELL SMITH 1941 - 2010
It is with deepest sympathy and regret that we note the death of former Pastor Cordell Smith, who served this church as Senior Pastor from 1997 to 2000. Though it was a relatively short time Pastor Cordell and wife Trish endeared themselves to the entire congregation during those three years, and kept in touch all during the past ten years. Pastor Cordell led us through the highly successful Sesquicentennial Celebration in 1998 and was Pastor when William "Rusty" Rustenhaven III was called as Associate Pastor in 1998, and later became Senior Pastor. We offer our condolences to his beloved wife, Trish, his daughter Ashley and husband David, his three grandchildren, and to a host of relatives and friends whose lives he touched during his lifetime of service to God through the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
