Get ready-- you are going to see and hear that endlessly for the next two months. My question is: Exactly what Tis' the season for?
November - obviously Turkey Day and naps to follow- oh yes, a day of thankfulness for our family, country, food, significant people in our lives.
December - Christmas, Jesus’ birthday, more food, gifts, shopping, family, friends, special Christmas programs at church and school.
Yes, both are part of the season- but what "Tis the season" really about? It is remembering to look around, listen, and see those individuals around you that may not have the food, family and friends to enjoy, and inviting them to share in your season of celebration.
We have a great nation and a great privilege as believers to attend and worship wherever and whenever we choose - NOW THAT is a good thing!
However, the most wonderful and amazing part of the "season" is the gift of Christ to us. In fact, that's why we say Merry Christmas and not Happy Holidays. God did not send holiday- He sent Christ, His Son.
My prayer is that you will not let this "season" pass without receiving Christ, a gift sent to you personally. This gift of salvation is available to all.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING & MERRY CHRISTMAS
