Incorporated in 1960, City founders considered the Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 interchange a perfect location on the northeast boundary of San Antonio. Live Oak’s appeal is its central location to various tourism attractions, job opportunities and its short distance from the Main Gate of Randolph Air Force Base, the Showplace of the Air Force. Live Oak is a home to the Northeast Methodist Hospital, which is a regional, expanding, full service medical facility, as well as to the Northeast Lakeview College, which is the newest addition to the Alamo Colleges system. Our quiet, rolling hills provide peaceful and safe residential areas for residents of all ages and our park system is second to none in the area.
Detective Sergeants Joe Wein and Russell Maxwell were awarded the Police Department's Centurian Award for their actions to save a woman in San Antonio who was being beaten in a domestic dispute. The officers heard the lady screaming, forced entry into her home and arrested the suspect who was beating the woman with a curtain rod. The Mayor and City Council joined those in attendance in thanking the officers for their bravery and service.
Mayor Mary M. Dennis and County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson helped Live Oak celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday, November 13th, at the Woodcrest Park. See the photo gallery in at the Parks and Recreation page of this web site.
