The Highway 36 church of Christ family is thrilled to have Bob and Jenny Martin joinus. After months of searching for a full-time minister this wonderful couple from West, Texas was asked to come work with us and they said YES!!Bob will officially beginhis work with Hwy. 36 on October 17th.
Bob was raised in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Euless, Texas. Jenny was raised in Coleman, not many miles away from here. We are both products of faithful Christian homes and have patterned our lives after the best examples from our childhood and adult lives. Since marrying almost 30 years ago we have raised three wonderful children. Our son Jay and his family live in Lubbock, our oldest daughter Claire and her family live in Lovington, NM, and our youngest daughter Cebia is a student at Lubbock Christian University. We have three terrific grandchildren whom we adore.
Bob received his formal Biblical training at Brown Trail School of Preaching in Bedford, Texas. In two years time he completed the equivalent of 192 college hours in concentrated Biblical studies including Old and New Testaments, the Greek language, Biblical fundamentals, the scheme of redemption, Church history, denominational doctrines, philosophy, hermeneutics, homiletics, Biblical geography, Christian apologetics, logic, introduction to counseling, great debates, personal evangelism, and local church programs.
Our first full time work was as Youth Minister in Early, Texas. We have since served with the Churches in Ranger, Gustine, Valley Mills, and West.
We have been blessed with many opportunities while doing the Lords work. Bob had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer chaplain in the Hughes Unit of Texas Department of Corrections in Gatesville, Texas, where he shared the Gospel every Sunday afternoon with prison inmates. He has been involved with Lake Cisco Christian Camp for 29 years as counselor, teacher, assistant director, and director. He has directed Lake Shore Junior Camp (held at Lake Cisco Christian Camp) for 15 years. Bob has been active in many community and school activities and organizations, which has helped him get acquainted with (and influence for Christ) many people outside the Church. A list of his involvement in community organizations includes: volunteer fire department, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scouts of America, Little League Baseball, and the Angel Tree program. He held office and was given service awards in many of these organizations. Bob and Jenny have served together in various school organizations, clubs and activities including high school band booster clubs and substitute teaching.
Jenny served as church secretary at West and has been employed by various companies in the past in secretarial/administrative assistant positions. Her true pleasure is working with children. She has been involved with Lake Cisco Christian Camp for many years as camper, counselor and teacher, and enjoys teaching Bible classes and decorating classrooms and bulletin boards. Jenny enjoys decorating, crafting, and dabbling in plants at home.
