Bishop Joseph A. Fiorenza, fourth bishop of San Angelo, established St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish on August 1, 1982. He named Father James P. Bridges as its founding pastor. The first Masses were celebrated at Blanton Elementary School. Later St. Barnabas Episcopal Church welcomed the congregation and Mass was celebrated in their church until Christmas 1985 when the new church on North Grandview Avenue was ready for occupancy. The fifth bishop of San Angelo, Bishop Michael D. Pfeifer, OMI, dedicated the church in May 1986, the first new church he dedicated as bishop.

Parish events soon crowded the congregation's limited facilities, so the parish quickly set about adding the family center. The building, consisting of a parlor, gymnasium and kitchen, was completed in 1990.

In June 1996 Father Mark Woodruff replaced Father Bridges as pastor. The parish continued to grow, and in 1999 the office/education building was completed. The courtyard, one of St. Elizabeth's outstanding features, was also finished. Plans are currently underway to construct a youth building and pavilion.

Each of the five parishes in Odessa has its own boundaries. You should attend the parish in whose boundaries you live. St. Elizabeth's boundaries are:

Everything east of Andrew's Highway north of 52nd Street;
Everything east of Grandview north of University;
Everything north of Business 20 beginning at John Ben Shepherd (this includes Mission Dorado)

Those living within these boundaries are automatically a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.
