Pets of the Month October 2010 Vera Livingston "Vera, (commonly referred to as Monster or Beast) is a thirty-five pound border collie mix. I've been with this pup since the very beginning-- since she was a shy and adorable six pound cotton ball! She came into my life when I needed ...a companion and loyal friend, and our bond gets stronger every day. Now she's nine months old--a terrible teen-- and I can't even list all the shoes, pillows, rugs, and electronics she has destroyed over the past months. Like a few Mondays ago, when I got out of the shower to find my cell phone in pieces, or the next day, when I found her sitting happily next to a broken, and also emptied bottle of advil. She was acting fine-- totally normal. I thought, if this was serious, there would be signs, right? A quick call to Abraham changed my mind, and from there we began a battle to save my little babe's life. She's spent the past three weeks practically living at Abraham, hooked up to fluids, getting medicines. It seemed like whenever we'd see a little progress, something else went wrong. But thanks to the love, care, and dedication of every single person at Abraham, Vera is better, back home, and happy-- here to fill my life with joy (and maybe a little insanity) for many more years." -Vera's Mom
