Mandarin House was established in 1990 by owner and executive chef Chih-Fong Chen, and
is very well known among the Chineese community in Austin, TX. for the authentic Szechuan/
Taiwaneese cuisine which it serves. Mr. Chen started his apprenticeship at the age of 14
in the early 70's, and worked at some of the most famous restaurants in Taiwan before
coming to America, many people who he taught during this period are now top chefs at
various hotels and restaurants.
Szechuan cuisine is one of the eight major styles of the authentic Chineese food. It is
recognized for the free using of spices, careful selection of ingrdients, and delicate
knife-skill. Presentation, aroma, and last but not least, taste are the main focus while
preparing all dishes
