20 Years of Austin Style Crushed by One Thoughtless Act

Local developer, 78704 Partners, Ltd., locks Ann Kelso Salon’s doors in the middle of negotiations, putting a 20-year success story on hold and forcing a new beginning for one of Austin’s most notable salons.
AUSTIN, Texas, October 27, 2009 — Ann Kelso Salon has played an essential role in the Austin style and fashion movement for over 20 years, but their success story came to a screeching halt in October 2009 when their landlord and local Austin developer, 78704 Partners, Ltd., unexpectedly locked their doors in the middle of negotiations over the lawsuit Ann Kelso Salon had filed against them.
The lawsuit, filed over a year ago by Ann Kelso Salon against 78704 Partners, includes claims of Breach of Contract, Deceptive Trade Practices Act Violations, Negligent Misrepresentation, Fraud, Breach of Covenant of Quiet Enjoyment, and Breach of Warranty of Suitability, pertaining to several issues that had existed since the opening of the salon.
Those negotiations were derailed in October 2009 when 78704 Partners’ Rob Lippincott, Abe Zimmerman and Stan Biderman decided to abandon the negotiation process in favor of activating a clause in the lease allowing them to lock Ann Kelso’s doors.
Despite Ann Kelso Salon’s numerous attempts to communicate with 78704 Partners and their attorneys, there is still no response or resolution.
Ann Kelso Salon will not reopen at its South Congress location. The salon is actively pursuing all possible resolutions through their counsel.
