Since 1979 The String and Horn Shop has provided quality musical instruments, accessories, and repair service to musicians in central and southeast Texas. Begun primarily as a string instrument store under luthier Bradley Bowman, the store ventured into brass and woodwinds instruments and accessories in the mid 1980's.
Paul and Susan Rieger purchased the store from Mr. Bowman in 1994 and have continued to broaden its appeal to all musicians. The Rieger's have furthered the reputation the store has for providing quality string instruments and repair. The String and Horn Shop imports most of their string instruments from Europe and does the "setting up of the instrument" in their Bryan/College Station location. They are also busy building tradition as the finest brass and woodwinds store between Dallas, Austin, and Houston. The store keeps a healthy inventory of name brand instruments. The String and Horn Shop will build on strong product lines in the future in guitars and other string instruments, as well as excellent brand name electronics, percussion, and keyboards. For those customers interested in renting a band instrument The String and Horn Shop is now affiliated with Music and Arts - the leading national provider of rental instruments. This affiliation allows musicians to choose from a vast array of brand name instruments, from Conn-Selmer to Yamaha to Buffet, and others.
Service is not only a spoken word with all staff members, it is something that is practiced daily. All customers - from store walk-ins, satellite customers, Ebay clients, or website shoppers are treated with the same consideration and respect. We are also a strong supporter of the Arts in our community, with funds or support regularly given to organizations such as OPAS at Texas A&M, or the local fund raising arm of the local band or orchestra.
The String and Horn Shop is a committed provider to many school districts - from some of the largest 5A districts in the state of Texas to 1A districts and private schools. We are also a proud supplier and service provider to the Texas Aggie band, as well as as other universities and colleges in Texas.
Our primary location is in Bryan/College Station, Texas in downtown Bryan, and we have recently opened a second location in Austin, Texas in the Lincoln Village Shopping Center near Highland Mall.
