Solar-X Service & Supply, L.L.C. has been located in Clute, Texas (Brazosport) since 1977, serving Brazoria, Galveston, Houston and Fort Bend counties for over thirty years. We got our start over three decades ago installing automotive tint, and you can still see one of us curled up in the back seat of a car applying film in the tint bay of our retail store on Plantation Drive. We've branched out a bit since the early days by applying film to numerous fishing boats, office buildings, and homes. We have partnered with Enpro Distributing and The Lintec Corporation giving us the opportunity to pursue our real passion: flat glass window filming.

Today with energy prices on the rise, Americans are searching for ways to reduce energy consumption and save money. Window tint is a cost effective way to reduce the amount of solar heat entering your home or commercial building.
But, a lot of what we do here at Solar-X is safety, security and hurricane-resistant window film application. After September 11, 2001, Madico (manufacturer of solar and safety films) invested large amounts in flying debris and bomb blast research. The attachment system was born. An attachment system is a secondary brace that is retrofit to the existing window frame. These systems are usually made of aluminum extruded polymer or structural sealants such as Dow Corning 995. Although attachment systems are used mostly on commercial buildings, there is always a standard daylight application that can be used in residential situations. (A daylight application is a window that is filmed with no more than a 1/16” gap from every side.)
Daylight applications are designed to make the glass more rigid. If the glass breaks, the 8-millimeter film holds it together in the frame to prevent outside elements such as debris and water from entering the building.
