Before you startyour next job, think about these things and call yourBoxConstruction Specialist.
As a contractor, you are probably aware that your business is exposed to a number of liability exposures. In addition to your daily operations and your completed work, there are many other exposures that arise from such things as signing contracts and hiring subcontractors. In this blog series we will discuss potential issuesfor contractors from aninsurance perspective, eachof these items may affect your liability coverage and premiums.
Preparing bids for jobs and signing contracts:
When preparing your bid for a job, you will want to be sure and review the insurance requirements that the contract contains and compare it with your current coverage. If your policy does not meet the coverages and/or limits required, you could incur an additional premium to make the necessary changes.
Some contracts also require that parties be named as additional insured on your policy and possibly require a waiver of subrogation to be added. These are also items that would require an endorsement to your policy which could increase your premium. It is important that you consider the additional costs when bidding.
When a contract for a job is signed, it is just as important to notify your liability carrier of any changes that need to be made to your policy to comply with the contract. By signing the contract, you may be assuming liability that your policy will not cover if it is not properly endorsed.

Do I need special coverage for my GPS, DVD player and other electronic equipment in my vehicle?
This is a great question, and one that our customers ask frequently.
Americans have developed a love affair with their electronic toys. TVs, DVD players, GPS devices, satellite radio receivers, VCRs, CD players, computers, tape decks, and stereos (and more) have all multiplied and spread from the home to the automobile, where there is a much greater chance for these items to be stolen or damaged in an accident. For that reason, some insurance companies have developed special ways to either cover or not cover electronic devices on the standard auto insurance policy, or charge an extra premium for covering them.

In a somewhat futile attempt to stay efficient and organized, I keep the websites that I frequent the most in My Favorites on my internet browser of choice. At Box Insurance, we represent a handful of different insurance companies that we interface with online. I keep these websites in My Favorites because I am likely going to use them multiple times a day and I like the quick and easy access. I have gotten even more spoiled by companies like The Hartford, because when I pull up My Favorites, their easily recognized brand, The Hartford Stag, displays on my list so I dont even have to read! I know that may seem lazy, but I think it is ingenious of The Hartford to keep their brand in front of their customers, like me! When we began our journey to revamp our website and to jump into the Social Media world, one of my top priorities was to have our very own FAVICON! This very important techno term, I learned through this process, is the name for the icon that shows up if you save a site to My Favorites IF the company has a savvy techno nerd that knows how to do it. Save Box Insurance to your Favorites and check out our FAVICON today!

Thank you so much for your prompt, courteous, efficient and friendly service. Now we have a sixteen year old daughter bouncing off the walls. Her response to your figures and estimates was typical of her:

"Take me to the mall or pet store Daddy. I need a job. I want to pay for my own insurance and gas".
