G.R. (Randy) Akin graduated in 1978 from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and graduated in 1981 from Baylor School of Law with a Juris Doctor and was admitted to the Texas Bar in the same year. Mr. Akin is licensed to practice in all four U.S. District Courts in the State of Texas. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and further Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Mr. Akin has been Board Certified since 1989. He is a Fellow with the Texas Bar Foundation, Member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, a Special Assistant Disciplinary Counsel to the Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline, and has had an active trial practice involving hundreds of civil jury verdicts on both the plaintiff and defense side. Mr. Akin is still currently practicing law.
Randy Akin began training for mediation/arbitration in 1990 through the U.S. Arbitration and Mediation. He traveled out of state for his initial training and then spent several months under Honorable Dee Johnson of Dallas, Texas, and Mr. Jerome Levy of Dallas, Texas, who are two very fine dispute resolution specialists. Mr. Akin now performs around 100 dispute resolutions per year.
