The Right Reverend C. Andrew Doyle Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas formally installed The Reverend Jerald W. Hyche as the 10th Rector of St. James the Apostle Episcopal Church on the evening of November 10. The service featured a variety of musical styles by the St. James Adult and Youth Choirs,a moving proclamation ofGod’s holy word by the Rev. Dr. James Donald, and a church full ofparish family members,friendsand special guests.
The St. James Garden Club will have their monthly meeting on November 12th. Master Gardener Brian Koehl will present a program on Growing, care and other interesting information about roses. The Seventh Diocesan Youth Choral Festival, Joseph Painter, Festival Conductor Saturday, November 13, Christ Church Cathedral 1117 Texas Avenue Houston, Texas 77002. Festival Evensong at 3:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to this festival service featuring the fifty voice youth choir of participants from throughout the Diocese including the Junior choir from St. James – Conroe.
Daughters of the King will meet Saturday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary for prayers. We invite allwomen of St. James who are interested to join us afterwardsat 10:45 in the Youth Building where we will be wrapping the Christmas Gift Boxes for the Port of Houston Seafarers’ Ministry.Many St. James parishioners participated this past summer by donating hundreds of small items for the boxes. Seafarers’ ministry has been supported by the Episcopal and other churches since the early 1970s. Two Seafarers’ Centers at the Port offer a ministry of presence, outreach, witness, worship, service, and advocacy to, with, and for seafarers and their families from around the world. More information can be found on the Diocese of Texas website. After services on November 14 a group of Daughters plan to deliver the boxes to the Seafarers’ Center.
