We want to be a loving community of people who are here to serve you. We exist to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ through biblical teaching, caring service, and life-changing ministries that reach out to people in our world. We invite you to share in this community of faith and discover the joy of God's peace in your life today.

As God's people of Hope living the culture of the Cross we will: Share the Story of Jesus, Build Communities of faith, and Serve our neighbors.

Expectations of Members
As spiritual leaders, our shepherds believe the Scriptures reveal certain expectations God has for his children as we follow and live in his church. For this reason, and in light or our vision and mission, we pray that each member of the Eastside Church will grow in grace in the following areas:

COMMUNITY • Participating in the worship assembly and engage consistently in a group that encourages caring relationships.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH • Pursuing Christ-like character by participating both as a group and individually in worship, Bible study and prayer.

SERVICE • Sharing int he ministry of the body of Jesus by discovering, developing and using our spiritual gifts and abilities to the glory of God.

MISSION • Calling people to salvation in Jesus and to discipleship in the contexts of family, work, and neighborhood through conversation, friendship and shared life.
• Participating in sharing the gospel locally, regionally and through out the world.

The Eastside Church of Christ is a community of believers sharing in the love of God, the grace of Jesus Christ, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. (Exodus 20:1-21; 24:1-8; Luke 22:14-27; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

WE BELIEVE there is only one God. He is the Creator and Supreme Ruler of the Universe. God is eternal and co-exists in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We learn about God through His creation, His Word, and His Son. God is righteous and faithful in His dealings with us, and God loves us as a Father and desires intimacy with us. That perfect relationship was broken by our sin and can only be restored by the gift of God Himself.

WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God. Jesus came to earth and became fully human. His miraculous works, sinless life and divine teachings all confirm that He is God's Son. Jesus' purpose in coming to Earth was to show God's undying love on a cross, taking the sins of all manknd upon Himself, and paying the penalty that our sins deserve. Jesus rose from the grave and promises to return someday showing that He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

WE BELIEVE at the point of salvation, the Holy Spirit comes to live in our physical bodies. The Spirit provides help to every Christian to do what is right, give strength to serve Jesus and direct our lives daily in God's way. Every Christian is to allow God's spirit to help him/her on a daily basis.

WE BELIEVE the Bible is God's inspired word, given through human writers as they were guided by the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us who God is, why God loves us and what God's plans are for us. The Bible is our authority and standard for living our lives in God's will.

WE BELIEVE sin is breaking God's law. We have all sinned and sin separates us from a God who desires relationship with us. It is impossible for us to restore that broken relationship through our goodness, deeds or belonging to a church. We cannot earn relationship with God with our mere efforts. God acts in His grace to save us throughthe death of Jesus on the cross as a full payment for sin. We receive the free gift of God's grace by entering into relationship with Jesus by placing our faith and trust in Him. We demonstrate that trust in Jesus by obeying His command to be baptized in water demonstrating His death, burial and resurrection.

WE BELIEVE the church is God's spiritual family made up of those who have chosen to place their trust in Jesus. The church is not a building. To belong to the church is to belong to Jesus. God's will is for His people to live in fellowship with a local church family, assemble regularly to worship together, use their various gifts to serve God together, to love and encourage one another and to work together to share the message of God's grace with the world. As the members of the church love one another and maintain unity of purpose, the world will recognize that we belong to Jesus

WE BELIEVE we were created by God with a soul which will never cease to exist. Those who choose Jesus as Lord will spend eternity with God in heaven. Rejecting Jesus by refusing to follow Him will spend eternity in Hell. Heaven is a gift of God. Hell is the consequence of those who have not accepted God's call of forgiveness. Jesus will visibly and bodily return one day to take His church to be with Him forever.
