Why Spay and Neuter?
Spaying and neutering does much more than decrease pet population. Spaying and neutering:
1. Helps dogs and cats live longer lives.
2. Reduces and eliminates many health problems that can be difficult and expensive to treat.
3. Eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer, greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer, eliminates testicular cancer, and decreases prostate cancer.
4. Reduces marking of territory.
5. Reduces behavioral problems, aggression, and roaming.
Spaying and Neutering Benefits the Community
1. Communities spend millions of dollars to control unwanted animals.
2. Irresponsible breeding contributes to the problem of dog bites and attacks.
3. Animal shelters are overburdened with surplus animals.
4. Stray pets and homeless animals get into trash containers, defecate in public areas or on private lawns, and frighten or anger people who have no understanding of their misery or needs.
5. Some stray animals scare away or kill birds and wildlife.
