For many years, the backbone of Waterview's evangelism program has been Community Enrichment. Community Enrichment has three basic ideas:
An excellent presenter;
A topic that appeals to those in the community that will attract the attention of friends and neighbors;
An opportunity for members to invite their friends without intimidation.
On November 14-15, the 2010 edition of Community Enrichment returns with Steve Diggs doing a new workshop called Retooled and Refueled. The workshop is scheduled for 2 days (November 14-15). Some of the topics include:
Raise Godly, Self-Reliant Kids
Overcome Conflicts with the Ones We Love
Heal Broken Relationships
Overcome the Nagging Struggles that Defeat Us
Grow Closer to God-and One Another
Go from Success to Significance
Control Your Money So It Doesn't Control You
Leave a Lasting Legacy for Those You Lead & Love
This is a workshop that allows you to bring a friend to hear an excellent communicator discuss practical aspects of the Christian life. It's a chance to start the right conversation.
Mark your calendars. Download the brochure here.
From The Elders' Perspective Thu, Oct 28th
With the arrival of fall, preparations for 2011 begin at Waterview. Our focus is in three areas.
What We Spend
Early this month, our deacons received their marching orders for the 2011 budget. They are busy preparing workplans and budgets to be presented to the Budget Task Force on November 14th. Our deacons do an excellent job of managing the various ministries at Waterview and the Budget Task Force keeps a careful eye on the projected spending for 2011.
What We Give
While we focus on the spending side at budget time, we ask members to reconsider their giving. Out of great blessing comes great responsibility. While Waterview continues to do what it needs to do, our giving has dipped in recent months. We believe that all can take a careful look at their blessings and give out of those abundant blessings.
What We Share
Fall is also time for outreach. Events with an evangelistic thrust are lined up like marching soldiers. Events such as Trunk and Treat, Friends and Family Day, and Community Enrichment present all of us the opportunity to start spiritual conversations with our friends. Evangelism at its core is little more than saying -Come and see. Our evangelism is not a church responsibility but a personal one.
