Welcome to Jose's Fine Mexican Food

Welcome to Jose's, a Restaurant featuring good food, good drinks and good fun. Jose's is the fruition of a longtime dream of Jose Montemayor, who came to Houston from Mexico with the ambition of becoming a successful business man. After twelve years of association with a highly successful Mexican food restaurant, Jose came to College Station to purchase the Zarape Restaurant. Since 1971 that establishment has become synonymous with authentic Mexican food served in a gracious manner.
Jose's decor is typical of the Mexican contemporary. The food on the menu is taken from family fare served daily in Mexican homes. Everything is made from scratch. There are no pre-prepared foods, no soy extenders, no flavor enhancers, no instant mixes. Jose's serves old-fashioned, hand prepared Mexican food, slowly cooked and seasoned to taste.
Our supervising cook is Jose's mother, Mama Maria de los Angeles Garcia de Montemayor, who learned to cook from her mother. Mama also supervises the cooking at Zarape's as well. In either establishment the recipes are hers and nothing is served toa customer until Mama is satisfied it is good.
