Furthermore, it is my desire to meet you personally in the days to come. Whether you see me at church or in the community, it would be my honor to meet you face to face.
In every athletic game there are participants and then there are the spectators. This is especially true in the Christian life. There are those that are actually involved in carrying out the Great Commission and then there are those who watch others take the Gospel to the mission field. Often in the church the spectators choose to be critics instead of the prayer warriors for those on the battlefield. It has often been said that any given Saturday you will find 22 men playing the game of football and these 22 men are in desparate need of rest. Then you have thousands filling the stands who are in desparate need of exercise.
Imagine with me just for a moment the influence that the church could have if every single believer was actually involved in serving in some type of ministry. This in fact is what the Lord Jesus has called every believer to do. It is my personal belief that there would be much less strife and conflict in the local church if all the members were actually involved in serving the Lord. For those who sit back and criticize, if they were to find a place of service they would have less time to stand in judgment of those who actually are serving.
I have recently discovered a quote by William Arthur Ward, that if lived out by the members of every church, we truly could impact this world for Jesus Christ:
I will do more than belong - I will participate.
