Gone With the Wind... an epic tale that remains as popular today as when it first appeared. Bobbie Hardy invites you to re-capture the magic at Scarlett O'Hardy's Gone With the Wind Museum, located in historic Jefferson, Texas, the Bed and Breakfast Capital of Texas. This 1,700-square-foot museum dedicated to Gone With the Wind features one of the largest private collections of memorabilia from this epic story of the Old South.
The museum tells the complete story of Gone With the Wind through displays focusing on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel written by Margaret Mitchell; the 1939 film produced by David O. Selznick and starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, and the modern-day collectibles that reveal just how pervasive the story's characters and dialogue have become in everyday life.
Without Mitchell, of course, there would be no Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler. More than 75 foreign editions of the book - from Bulgaria to Yugoslavia, from Denmark to Vietnam - give a fascinating glimpse at how the rest of the world views these most American of characters.

Movie posters from the United States and abroad, stills, magazines, books, dolls, costume reproductions, jigsaw puzzles, drapery fabric and figurines track the various re-releases of the film over the years and the continuing love movie goers have for Gone With the Wind. Also on display are autographs of many of the film's major stars, including Gable and Leigh,Olivia de Havilland, Leslie Howard, Hattie McDaniel, Butterfly McQueen and Ona Munson.
Seven decades after its release, Gone With the Wind retains its incredible popularity, continually topping poll after poll as the public's all-time favorite movie. The novel, published 74 years ago, has never been out of print.
During your next visit to Jefferson, visit Scarlett O'Hardy's to capture a glimpse of the history and romance that is Gone With the Wind.
