For less than half the cost of a single college course - Life Focus assessments identify an individual's unique personality traits, aptitudes, and interests to provide direction when making educational or career choices. Better choices means fewer detours.

WHAT LIFE FOCUS CAN DO FOR YOU

Life Focus differs from other organizations offering assessment services. Life Focus offers comprehensive assessment, in-depth exploration, and application through the development of a strategic plan.
Life Focus is not a career placement agency although assisting an individual in identifying possible career paths is a primary goal of the service. The three packages offered by Life Focus are:

A series of assessments is used to identify an individual's unique personality, skills, aptitudes, and interests. The results include a list of possible career and educational choices.

Building on the Assessment Package, the Exploration Package identifies common themes and conflicts between the individual's unique personality, skills, aptitudes, and interests. The best educational and career matches are then explored and discussed.

Building on the Exploration Package, the Application Package narrows the best matches down to the best and most likely choices. The best choices are explored in context with other important balanced life choices and a strategic plan for implementation is developed. The strategic plan includes interviews with people in the field.

Take six assessments (aptitudes, interests, personality, past achievements, coping mechanisms, work a life values)

THE BLUR OF TRANSITION

The Life Focus Plan helps individuals in transition answer questions and make decisions.

Know what you want to do.
Know what you are naturally good at doing and will enjoy.
Know what satisfies your needs.

Graduation is one of life's major transition. It signifies the passage from childhood to adulthood - from dependence to independence. Some of the questions facing graduates include:

Life Focus assists individuals by taking inventory of their current skills, abilities, and desires in order to make better choices for the future.

Faced with major decisions and an unknown future, one's thinking can become blurred. Without a focused clear plan many start one direction and then change and eventually "find" direction or settle for the path of least resistance - often ending up in a career that is not satisfying. These detours can be costly in both time and money. Moving ahead without a clear map may lead to the "dead end" of a dissatisfying career or academic failure.
Life Focus offers better choices resulting in fewer detours. Through a series of assessments Life Focus provides an individualized report that combines a student's personality, aptitudes, skills, abilities, interests and desires. The Life Focus report helps to focus choices by matching an individual's uniqueness with a life and career path. Follow-up sessions with an adviser assist in the development of a plan of action to accomplish life goals.

LIFE FOCUS SAVES MONEY

The average college graduate changes majors 2-3 times. This results in the loss of tuition dollars for courses that don't count in the new major and the additional time for graduation. The cost of an average semester at a public university or trade school in the State of Texas is over $6,300. For less than the cost of one course a student could make fewer detours and save money by making better choices before starting.
The average adult changes jobs 10-12 times and changes careers 3-5 times during their life. This shifting workforce costs individuals and industry alike. The cost to individuals to change direction in career can be expensive often requiring the cost of relocation, retraining, and starting over at an entry level position and lower wage.
