AppleTree Pediatrics is the private practice of J. Kathleen Moore, MD. Established in 2001, we offer old-fashioned personalized pediatric care, supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and ongoing medical education. We offer complete pediatric medical care--from cradle to college--including physicals, immunizations, health care screenings, and individualized treatment for illness---both acute and chronic. When hospital care is needed, pediatric care is available both at East Texas Medical Center and Trinity Mother Frances Hospital.

Our office is open weekdays from 8:00 AM to around 5:00 PM, except for Thursdays when we close around noon. Closing times vary based on the number of children who need to be seen.

Sick children are seen the same day, with well child appointments usually available within one to two weeks. Specialty referrals are available, as needed.

We offer management of chronic disorders including asthma and attention problems. We provide in-house spirometry and laboratory testing to provide better asthma management and more rapid diagnosis of illness.

In September 2008, Dr. Kathryn Akin, MD, FAAP, joined our office. She is a board-certified Developmental Pediatrician and provides, in consultation, services for children with developmental and learning problems, including autism.

After hours advice, for Dr. Moore's patients, is offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to our established patients by simply calling the office telephone number. Physician support and after hours care is available, as needed.

Dr. Akin's patients are requested to contact their primary care physician for after hours problems. She is available during regular office hours to answer developmental questions for her established patients.

At AppleTree Pediatrics, telephones are answered by a person---no menus or answering machines--except when the office is closed. All our staff is certified in CPR and Dr. Moore is trained in Advanced Life Support for children and infants, including newborns. We strive to offer a friendly, easy-going atmosphere where you can feel at home. Dr. Moore values your time and AppleTree Pediatrics works hard to minimize your waiting time.

Offering translation services in over 150 languages, we welcome patients who require translation. This service is always provided at no cost to our patients. We currently have one bilingual staff member, fluent in Spanish. to help as well.
