Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal structures of the body, to improve a patient's appearance and self-esteem. It covers a wide variety of both surgical and non-surgical procedures to do some of the following: improve appearance, improve skin tone, fill out defects or wrinkles. Various chemical procedures can be done as an adjunct to the above.
Other reconstructive procedures are done to restore the norm that was damaged by injury and at the same time improve the appearance.
Plastic procedures are generally safe and relatively painless when performed by an experienced surgeon, but as with all surgical procedures there is a certain degree of risk.
Dr. Sorokolit will discuss all aspects of the procedure to be done in detail so that you may have a realistic approach to the eventual outcome.
Some procedures are done in our office, although most are done as out-patient procedures under general anesthesia or sedation and local anesthesia. The decision concerning which type of anesthesia will be discussed with you during your consultation.
Patients who have plastic surgery either cosmetic or reconstructive can gain a sense of well being and self confidence.
