It is recommended that EVERYONE 6 months of age and older get a flu shot this year. Right now we have the injectable for ages 4 and up. You don’t have to have an appointment – please come in anytime during office hours, or get it at your regularly scheduled appointments. Cost: Insurance copay or $25, whichever is lower. Medicare and TexasHealthspring – No charge!
Thank you to everyone who sent cards, gifts, and prayers my way. I truly appreciated your support, and I know it helped! I am back in the office now full-time and doing fairly well – the soreness comes with the territory, as many of my patients have told me to expect. I continue to do better everyday. Thank you!! Dr. Chilek
The pathology report came back benign as expected. She is doing well and if everything continues to go well, she will go home tomorrow (Friday).
The surgery went as well as expected. She spent the night in the ICU and will be moving to a regular room today. She’s up and around and eating regular food. She should be going home in a couple of days as planned. She’ll be recovering at home for the next few weeks but don’t be surprised if she answers a portal message from you! Thank you for all your support and prayers, we know that they worked.
Dear Patients and Friends,
Unfortunately, I have a tumor just above my heart that needs to be removed, and I will be having the surgery on Monday, June 14th. We expect it to be benign, but the recovery from the surgery will take some time since Dr. Hutton has to go through the sternum, or chest bone, to get it.
I am sorry for the inconvenience and interruption in your care from me. During this time, Dr. McWilliams and Dr. Jezierski will be happy to see you if you need to come into the office. Amanda, Ashley, Courtney, and Hunter will also be able to help you with anything you may need like refills, follow-up referrals, or nurse visits. Just send a portal message or give us a call. If you get the machine, just leave a detailed message. I expect to be back in the office slowly in July, and finish my recovery with a week in Minnesota for a family reunion at my brothers house at the end of July. I should be back full strength and ready to go in August.
I have asked them to please just take my appendix, tonsils, and any other thing that could go wrong or burst in the future, because Im ready to be done with of all of this!!! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Ill keep you posted.
Due to recent problems we have encountered with some pharmacies, we are changing our Rx refill policy. Due to possible errors, we are no longer allowing pharmacies to request additional refills from us when the Rx runs out. We feel the best way to make sure you are getting the medicine you are supposed to get is if you ask us for it. If your Rx has NO refills on it, you will need to contact our office for approval of more refills to be sent to your pharmacy.
This only applies to prescriptions with NO REFILLS. If your bottle says you have 2 refills, you can call your pharmacy to get the refills until there are none left.
When your bottle says 0 Refills, you should contact our office for the approval of additional refills. In the past, the pharmacy would contact us for you, but this communication has not worked well. To contact us, the easiest way is to USE YOUR PORTAL! Or call and leave us a detailed message with the drug name, dosage, exactly how you are taking it, and your pharmacy.
We purposely limit the number of refills on prescriptions so we can monitor your care better. In most cases, we want you to continue your medication and do not want you to go without medicine. However, many medicines need to be monitored closely and we feel we can do this better by having your doctor reevaluate whether you should stay on the medicine every few months. We can then contact you if you need blood work or are due for a follow-up appointment.
We think this is going to make the refill process run more smoothly for everyone.
We’re open on Thursday mornings now! We have recently changed our schedule to allow office hours to extend on Thursdays. Previously, I needed Wednesday afternoon and Thursday mornings open so our staff did not go overtime every week. With more staff, we are able to cover more time and also have some Saturday hours. We will always be closed Wednesday afternoon. Although we are “open” more, it does not mean every doctor will be in every day. We generally need one or two half days per week in order to catch up on our “paperwork.” The doctors will also be able to take more time for educational conferences and meetings, since we can cover for each other. Please do not hesitate to be seen by any of the three of us in the clinic, regardless of your “PCP.” Dr. J, Dr. McWilliams and I all trained in the same residency program and have similar practice philosophies. We consult with each other on cases regularly and we update one another when we see “someone else’s patient.” We understand continuity with your doctor is very important, but we also don’t want you to put off your healthcare to wait for one if us to be back in the clinic.
There have been a lot of changes! More good ones to come- we’ll keep you posted!
New info on the vampire situation… Since we are now open Thursday mornings, this means you can come in for bloodwork any day of the week, Monday through Friday! We “open the doors” at 8:30am. Previously, we have said anyone can come in without an appointment. Unfortunately, it seems as though everyone decides to come in the same day! We have had some mornings with long waits. In order to prevent this, we are now asking that you call ahead or shoot us a portal message of when you are coming in so we can better prepare. We may give you an alternate time if you want to have a shorter wait. If you fast one morning and forget to let us know you are coming, please do still come in. We do not want to turn anyone away. You also have the option of doing fasting bloodwork in Conroe at the CPL or Quest blood-draw stations. Just let us know you want to go there and we will put your lab order in.
Fasting bloodwork: Do not eat anything with calories after midnight. You can have water, diet soda, black coffee and take your medicines, but anything with calories will affect the blood sugar and cholesterol readings. If you can’t make it here in the mornings, you should fast for 8 hours before the blood draw. So, have breakfast, but then no calories until a late afternoon blood draw. We don’t recommend doing this, but we realize due to work schedules it is sometimes impossible to come in early.
Linda Teague has joined our team. She will be coordinating the Sleep Studies and Pulmonary Function Tests done at the Diagnostic Center two doors down from us. Montgomery Sleep Diagnostics is now a part of Stone Creek Family Medicine and we will be adding other diagnostic testing for patient convenience. If you have questions about your test, you can reach Linda at 936-582-2511.
Two new links have been added to the Other Info section on the left. The first is “Lab Calls” and explains what goes on with lab tests that are ordered and the follow-up phone calls. The second item is the “Patient Portal Guide”. We realize that the Patient Portal is new and unfamiliar. This guide has been written to help you with using the Patient Portal and get the most benefit out of it. Finally, there is a new article on vitamin D that you can read by clicking on the Articles link on the main menu above.
