Despite the downturn in the national economy, the Tyler retail market managed to post an improvement in the past twelve months. The annual survey canvassed forty six properties which contain a total of 2,456,352 square feet of space. The survey does not include the Broadway Square Mall or free standing retail and restaurant buildings.

The Tyler office market is bucking the economic trend, displaying surprising strength in an otherwise quiet real estate market.
After a drop in the occupancy rate of almost four percent in 2009, the annual Burns Commercial Properties survey shows that the office sector has bounced back. The occupancy rate increased from 86.5% a year ago to 88.5% in 2010.
