Effective April 1, 2008 the minimum insurance requirements have been increased under the Texas Motor Vehicle Safety Responsibility Act per 2007 Legislature Action S-502.
This means that your current minimum liability limits have been increased from the previous 20,000/40,000/15.000 limits to the new state mandated limits of 25,000/50,000/25,000. $25,000 for bodily injury to or death of one person in one accident; $50,000 for bodily injury to or death of two or more persons in one accident, subject to the $25,000 provided for bodily injury to or death of one of the persons; and $25,000 for damage to or destruction of the property of others in one accident.
Due to this increase in liability limits you will notice an increase in your liability premiums when you renew an expired or cancelled policy after March 31, 2008. If you have any questions concerning your current policy limits, please ask your customer service representative.
