Our philosophy at Covenant Hills is that women struggling with drug and alcohol addiction deserve not only a safe place to heal, but a place that they can feel at home. Covenant Hills is that place.
Once she crosses the threshold, she is free from outside pressures and distractions allowing her to focus on her own personal issues and the disease of addiction. Our chemical dependency treatment program has the added benefit of being guided by other women that are professionally trained to help her and who share similar experiences, pain, and struggles.
Different than most alcohol and drug treatment centers, Covenant Hills not only provides a strong clinical program based on the 12-Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, but also offers a warm Christian home environment. Offering recovery exclusively for women, Covenant Hills has an all female clinical and direct care staff that has a passion to help other women.
Due to the small group size of twelve, she is able to receive personalized attention. To maintain consistent care, clinical staff is scheduled 7 days a week to provide treatment and support when needed. A minimum of 3 individual weekly sessions is offered with an assigned case manager, individual therapist and pastoral counselor.
Long term recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction is possible and can be attained with the guidance of our program, as has been proven by past clients time and time again. Our approach to recovery is as follows:
GENDER SPECIFIC TREATMENT:
Being in a treatment setting exclusively for women allows the client to be more open and comfortable to share personal issues and removes the barriers to honesty that can occur in a co-ed environment. Women face unique challenges when dealing with issues such as traumatic loss, self esteem, sexual abuse, eating disorders, divorce, unemployment, unresolved grief issues, depression and anxiety. With the help of our counselors, therapist and pastoral counselor, women are educated on the disease of addiction, relapse prevention, relationship issues and are able to identify underlying core issues which have contributed to their alcoholism/addiction. Covenant Hills is a safe place to heal while discovering one's true self without the distractions of a co-ed environment.
CO-OCCURRING/DUAL DIAGNOSIS TREATMENT:
It is not uncommon for an individual to have more than one disorder relating to the use of alcohol and/or drugs. Co-occurring disorders such as major depression with cocaine addiction, or alcohol addiction with panic disorder are common examples of the combination of psychological disorders and addiction. Covenant Hills provides individual counseling and group therapy to address these core issues along with chemical dependency. In addition, consultation with a licensed psychiatrist to address and treat any psychological disorders is provided.
CHRISTIAN AND TRADITIONAL 12-STEP TRACKS:
We offer two distinct, yet overlapping 12-Step programs based on the 12-Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Christian Track offers the Celebrate Recovery curriculum developed by Rick Warren, which provides a Christian to recovery. The Traditional program meets the individual who is at a different stage of faith and relates to God based on their own perspective of their higher power. The two programs run concurrently, but do distinguish certain groups between Christian and Traditional, such as 12-Step Recovery, Bible/Big Book Study and Spiritual Recovery.
Shortly after arrival each client is assessed by a psychiatrist for medical and psychological disorders. Should she need help with certain disorders that require medications, the medical team addresses these issues without the use of addictive drugs.
Covenant Hills offers nutritious and well-balanced meals. Our chef meets with each client to discuss the importance of healthy eating in moderation. This initial meeting allows the client to discuss any food allergies and eating habits. Research shows that many alcoholics suffer from some level of malnutrition and many drugs suppress the appetite. Covenant Hills helps women to recover physically and to develop new habits that foster long-term recovery.
Exercise is another way to improve the physical and emotional health of women recovering from alcoholism or drug addiction. Each client is required to participate in a structured exercise program three times a week led by certified physical fitness instructors. Our instructors recognize that each woman is in a different place physically and will encourage her to improve her level of activity while staying at Covenant Hills.
LIFE SKILLS AND SOCIAL INTERACTIONS:
It is common that social situations are often difficult for addicts and alcoholics without the use of drugs and/or alcohol. As part of the treatment program, women have opportunities to practice socializing, interacting with others, and participating in a variety of activities outside the center while in treatment. Joy and laughter in recovery is encouraged by the staff with the hope of teaching clients how to enjoy their lives once again. Women also have the opportunity to practice the simple life skills that are often ignored in the disease of addiction. They share house chores and practice accountability of the space they live in while in treatment.
Covenant Hills Treatment Center is owned and operated by Pacific Hills Treatment Center’s Inc., which has been providing residential recovery services since 1994. We have taken their proven program and established it in the picturesque Texas Hill Country.
