Sound reinforcement technology has changed a lot in the last few years — when is the last time you had a sound engineer evaluate your facility?
A good example of what we can do for you is found at the First United Methodist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas. A few years ago, after this beautiful church was destroyed by fire, it was rebuilt as closely as possible to the original design. The same features that made it visually appealing, though — soaring polished wooden ceilings, polished wooden pillars and trusses, and huge stained-glass windows — made it an extremely challenging auditory environment. Sounds echoed off every surface and made listening difficult, and caused constant problems with feedback. Depending on where you sat, you might be able to hear someone halfway across the room turn the pages of their Bible just as well as you could hear the pastor.
Using the construction blueprints, we created a computerized model. (If blueprints aren’t available or up-to-date, we take precise measurements using lasers.) Then, using data supplied by manufacturers, we tested numerous system configurations and were able to define which speakers should be used and precisely where and how they should be placed, prior to the actual physical installation. Designing a system this way saved the church time, money and aggravation.
The result? Sounds from the stage are clear no matter where you sit, and the possibility of feedback is greatly reduced.
If your present sound system doesn’t let you hear what you’re supposed to hear, give us a call. We’d be glad to work with you to create a sound system that enhances your worship service or special event.
