Lockhart has always been a favorite in Central Texas. With the steady growth of our region we stand ready to welcome even more families and businesses looking for an escape from the hassles of big city life.
The Texas State Legislature has named Lockhart as "The Barbecue Capitol of Texas". Texas Monthly Magazine said "Smitty's Market" is among the best in the state. Black's Barbecue is known worldwide and Chisholm Trail Barbecue rounds out the city's barbecue royalty.
Lockhart is located about 30 miles south of Austin and 60 miles northeast of San Antonio. Lockhart has small town quality of life (population 13,670), two industrial parks, job training, productive labor supply, and state and local incentives.
We have many events and festivals that take place in Lockhart throughout the year; the Chisholm Trail Roundup, Rites of Spring, Fourth of July, and Dickens, just to name a few.
