Local 433 of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada
The Austin Federation of Musicians is the local chapter of the American Federation of Musicians of the U.S. and Canada. The Austin Local was founded in 1907 and since then has assisted local musicians with wages, working conditions and other issues relating to their employment. We’re musicians representing and working for musicians with over 500 local members.
What Does the Union Do?
The Austin Federation of Musicians' primary purpose is to protect the interests of working musicians. We do this by negotiating contracts covering wages, working conditions and other workplace issues. We also provide benefit programs, such as equipment insurance, geared to the needs of musicians.

What members say about The Austin Federation of Musicians:
"Actually, the union's helped me a lot. They've gotten lots of money for me. Little things that you forget. Big things – special payment funds, special funds that come when you need'em."
"When I'm hiring musicians for a session or gig, I just get the union membership directory for names and phone numbers. I figure if they're not in the Union, they're not serious."
