Hair Transplants The new technology is called “Follicular transplantation”. A strip of hair bearing skin is removed from the back of the head, leaving ideally an undetectable scar. The follicles are then separated under a microscope and then “ planted” one by one in the area where they are needed. Hence, areas with little or no hair can look non-bald again. Men and women can have hair transplanted very effectively. No substance, shampoo or medication will cause h air to grow like magic. Some prescription medications can cause existing hair to thicken or stop falling-out. However, these medications only affect the crown. Only a hair transplant can place hair in any bald areas.

Chin Implants Most people with a small chin are candidates for what is called “chin augmentation”. An implant is inserted through a small incision under the chin or inside the mouth. On occasion it also helps to reduce a “double chin”. Sometimes a chin augmentation is complimented by a rhinoplasty (nose job) to give a more balanced and pleasant appearance. The operation can be done under local anesthesia and the recovery period takes just a few days.

Rhinoplasty Known as a “ nose job”, thousands of people choose to have surgery to improve the function and or appearance of their noses. Since we are all different, the amount of surgery on a particular nose depends on the problems that need to be addressed. Function is of utmost importance, even if the surgery is done for cosmetic reasons. After a careful and detailed exam the surgeon may discuss drawings of your profile and on occasions advise such other procedures as a chin implant. The effect may be out-striking. This type of surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis, and takes approximately a week to recover.

Lip Augmentation Thin lips can be augmented or enhanced through an implant, collagen injections, or even surgery according to the need. Implants of synthetic material have the problem of extrusion since the lips are a very active part of our face. Collagen injections are very effective in producing the so called “Paris” look. This however is transitory. For permanent effect, surgery is recommended. This surgery is usually done in a doctor’s office, under local anesthesia.
