To provide compassionate, supportive palliative care to those individual diagnosed with a life threatening illness, where cure is no longer the goal but quality of life is always the focus.
As far as possible, we wish to enable our patients to direct their own hospice care. We will always respect their priorities and serve their needs. Since freedom and dignity can be impaired by severe physical distress, we try to relieve pain and suffering, using our professional skills and techniques and our gifts of wisdom and kindness.
Measures which merely delay death but do not offer improved quality of life as defined by the patient/family unit will not have any part in hospice care. On the other hand, having respect for the teachings of all the major religions of humanity, we are never prepared to hasten any patient's death.
Honesty, integrity, compassion and respect will always be our commitment to the people we serve.
Dame Cicely Saunders (founder of the first modern hospicein London) told her patients; You matter to the last moment of your life and we will do all we can to help you live until you die.
Our commitment to our patients, and the people they love is to walk with them during their journey in this life, to comfort them and to focus on the joy of living.
