No. 10 Ladycats come back from two-game deficit to down Lady Hornets in 5
Aledo Ladycats head coach Kathy Goings probably thought she was going to win her 400th career victory on Tuesday in Aledo's district finale at home when her team fell behind 2-0 Friday night at Azle in a District 5-4A match.
Azle, fighting for its playoff life, was the better team on the floor in the first two games, downing the Ladycats by counts of 25-21, 25-14.

Aledo BearcatsIt was really no surprise that the Class 4A No.1 Aledo Bearcats defeated Azle, 73-0, in a District 5-4A contest Friday night at Azle.
Aledo all-state running back Johnathan Gray had his usual productive game with 183 yards on 19 carries and four touchdowns, and a Bearcats' 40-0 lead at the half also did not raise eyebrows.
But the Bearcat offense did show another side that may give future opposing defensive coordinators some sleepless nights as junior quarterback Matt Bishop connected on long touchdown passes of 45, 58, 40 and 39 yards, the latter to new varsity receiver Willie Gibson, a sophomore who was called up to varsity this week.

Aledo ISD released the following statement in regards to a temporary closing of old Bearcat Stadium on the campus of Aledo Middle School:
On October 19th, a routine inspection of the base of the stadium light poles at the Middle School Stadium revealed weaknesses in several bolts that anchor the poles into their concrete foundations.
In light of this discovery, the district has decided to take all safety precautions by closing the stadium grounds until the light poles can be taken down, assessed by an engineer, and the foundations repaired in alignment with all appropriate safety standards.
All students, staff and community members who use the Middle School Stadium should stay off the premises until repairs have been completed and the stadium has been re-opened.

A Special Crimes Unit officer in Weatherford was involved in a shooting incident Tuesday, Oct. 19 at about 3:30 p.m.
The Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team, which is composed of members of the Parker County Sheriff's Department and Weatherford Police Department, was involved in an undercover narcotics operation in the parking lot of the Buffalo Wild Wings at 320 Adams Dr., a location chosen by the suspects involved. When officers attempted to facilitate an arrest of the suspects, they fled the scene, attempting to run over an arresting officer.

Aledo head coach Kathy Goings one win away from 400th career victory
Paced by a match-high nine kills from middle hitter Breana Sharratt and 10 digs by libero Taylor Brown, the state-ranked No. 10 Aledo Ladycats clinched the outright District 5-4A title with a convincing 25-11, 25-9, 25-13 victory over Keller Timber Creek Tuesday night at Timber Creek.
The win raises the Ladycats overall record to 30-8 and 12-0 in district play. Aledo continues district action at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Azle. A win would give Ladycats head coach Kathy Goings her 400th career victory.
Although the Ladycats clinched the district title, the team walked off the floor in unemotional fashion. Senior captain Jordan Jacobs explained why.
