That’s Why I’m Here
The goal of Alt4Animals.com is to arm you, the animal caretaker, with the best information available on natural health care for your animals, so that you can make informed choices in the care of those who’ve entrusted their lives to you. I share my years of experience as a holistic veterinarian with you here. I have learned a great deal since I started practice in 1980, and I share that knowledge with you in the hopes that you can give your animals glowing health, their birthright. Most of what you will read here is what I’ve been charging my clients $120 per hour to hear for the last many years. It’s become apparent to me of late that it’s time to give this information out, to reach a greater audience than I ever could in my little offfice, one to one.
I've put a lot of work into this site, and it'll take some time to absorb it all. Anything as precious as another's health is worth taking time on. I'd suggest you book mark this page now, and save it as a reference. Things will be updated periodically as well, so check in now and again, especially to Current Waves.
Prevention is by far the most important part of medicine. When you carefully apply what I share with you in this website, you will see how to truly prevent illness by deeply nourishing your animal with optimum nutrition, enhancing immunity, and avoiding common mistakes that actually cause illness. Most of these mistakes are practices, unfortunately, still recommended in conventional medical hospitals today, whether veterinary or human.

Alternative therapy is filling a huge gap left by conventional medicine today. While we live in a high tech medical world where organ transplants are commonplace, lives are saved from traumatic injury, and acute disease is (sometimes) dispatched with powerful drugs, the main type of disease we deal with, as doctors or caretakers, is chronic disease. These are the diseases that linger, that don’t go away like a cold or a flu will, that don’t resolve like a wound heals itself. Examples common to both man and animal are allergies, asthma, arthritis, ear infections, thyroid disease, heart disease, kidney failure, and cancer.
Unfortunately, modern conventional medicine has no cures for chronic disease. The best that medicine and surgery can offer is a modest control of symptoms, called palliation, or worse, suppression. While the drugs are being used, the symptoms are quieted a bit, but the patient doesn’t really get better overall. And when the drugs are stopped, the symptoms return. Often, over time, they get worse, and necessitate more frequent doses of drugs or new, stronger drugs to keep the patient somewhat comfortable. But concurrently, we’ll see the patient’s disease getting more troubling, even changing its pattern to a deeper, more serious form. Freya is a classic example of a dog whose skin disease was suppressed by steroids, and later went on to develop brain cancer.

The True Goal: Cure
If you have arrived at Alt4Animals.com after illness has struck, you will be armed with information that can minimize illness time and discomfort, and, with the help of homeopathy and immune support, actually cure your animal in most cases. The goal of treatment is CURE, which by definition means the disease state is eliminated, and the patient stays well without the continued use of medicine. It also means that the WHOLE PATIENT gets well, not just that the symptoms go away. "Cure" means the cat who came with chronic bladder inflammation stops getting these repeated bouts of difficult urination, stops shedding and vomiting hairballs, and starts initiating play again with the family. "Cure" means the dog who came with achy joints not only moves freely after treatment, but has a glossy coat, stops smelling doggy, and clears up his chronic eye drainage. More often than not, if the condition your animal has is chronic, you will need to consult with a trained veterinary homeopath to get the best results. In acute illnesses, you may well be able to achieve success with some fairly simple treatments that can bring your animal back to health faster and without the toxicity common to drug therapy.
So, take a deep breath, and begin the journey to your animals’ full and greatest health charted within these pages. It all begins with one step. . . Nutrition
