Eating disorders are not about food, but about learning how to effectively deal with conflicting emotions and behaviors in a way that preserves ones integrity.
I take a direct and compassionate approach to treating individuals suffering from Eating Disorders, Depression, and other stress-related issues. Together we will identify how to pave a new path toward recovery.
I have been in private practice in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for over four years. Prior to this, I worked in a number of environments including inpatient psychiatric units and outpatient counseling.
My focus is on issues related to adult and adolescent women such as: eating disorders, body image concerns, depression, anxiety/stress management and low-self esteem.
Counseling consists of cognitive behavioral therapy as well as dialectical behavioral therapymeaning the sessions will be heavily-based on dialogue and setting goals to overcome the issue at hand.
My methods motivate and empower clients to stimulate change within their life.
"My sessions with Shannon have changed my life. Looking back, it's amazing to see how far I've come. She was able to identify what I needed and that's what we worked on. I am so thankful for Shannon's insight, care, and thought-provoking questions." -Former Patient
