NEW AMENDMENTS TO REGULATION E
New federal regulations have amended Regulation E, the federal law which covers Electronic Funds Transfers. After August 15, 2010, Gladewater National Bank will need for you to Opt-In if you want us to try to pay everyday debit card and ATM transactions that would cause your account to be overdrawn, even if we may have done so in the past. Examples of everyday debit card transactions would be when you pay for a purchase at a gas station, restaurant, grocery store, etc. In fact, it would be most places that you use your debit card. Using your debit card to authorize a payment of a recurring bill, such as your cell phone or utility bill, is not considered an everyday debit card transaction and is not covered under this amendment to Regulation E.
If you decide to Opt-In, we will try to cover your everyday debit card and ATM transactions regardless of the funds that exist in your account. If we do elect to cover the overdraft, you will be saved the frustration and embarrassment of having your card declined at the gas station, restaurant, grocery store or ATM. There is no fee to Opt-In to this protection. However, there is a fee of $25 per item if we actually cover the overdraft for you.
If you decide not to Opt-In, you are telling the bank that you do not want us to try to cover your everyday debit card and ATM transactions when there are insufficient funds in your account. You will not be charged an overdraft fee; however, your transaction will be declined if there are insufficient funds in your account.
Deciding whether or not to Opt-In to these overdraft services is an important decision. We want to make certain that you have all of the necessary information to make an informed decision, please call us with any questions you have 903-845-5566 and let us know you want more information about these new regulations.
To Our Internet Banking Customers:
New login security features have been activated As a part of our continued commitment to enhance our information security position, Gladewater National Bank is implementing an additional authentication mechanism on the internet banking application. This will result in greater protection from the threats of phishing, while allowing Gladewater National Bank to meet the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) requirements for multifactor authentication. The new login process will consist of an authentication image and phrase as well as a series of challenge questions. Every time you login to internet banking, the bank identifies you, and the image and phrase lets you identify the bank. One thing that is not noted when you are selecting your phrase is that NO punctuation or special characters can be used. Once you complete your initial authenticated login, changes to the Image/Phrase or Questions/Answers for login authentication can be made in the Services section under Security Maintenance. For additional security, we recommend changing your information at least every six months. If you have any problems with the new login process, please contact Amber Odom, Patty Bernethy or Jeanene Jalomo at 903-845-5566.
