Old-Time Branding in Friona
On Thursday, September 9th the Friona branch office of Great Plains Ag Credit served over 200 sausage wraps, to a hungry “branding crew.” Two area dairies even supplied a variety of cheese, milk and ice cream to complement the feast.
The branding came about due to an effort to update landscaping at the Highway 60 location. The Friona staff asked area cattlemen and farmers to bring in their cattle brands to “brand” some newly poured cement.
The event was well received and 73 brands, along with a few baby handprints and footprints, are permanently embedded in an area in front of the office. Stop in and see the finished product; it’s quite impressive.
