Welcome to The Mandt System® home page. As an organization, we see ourselves as partners, not just vendors, with organizations who want to utilize the most comprehensive training program available to do more than anger management or crisis prevention. Since 1975 we have helped organizations such as yours to lay the foundations upon which human services can be delivered and received, and that foundation is the relationships between the people in the workplace.
We can help you and your organization reduce, if not eliminate, workplace violence by learning how to “support people, not just their behaviors”™. To do this, organizations must first build a healthy relationship between and among all the stakeholders in an organization.

Reducing workplace violence has resulted in significant savings in workers compensation and other costs in many organizations using The Mandt System®. This savings is a direct return on investment financially, but even more important it results in staff feeling safe at work. By doing more than anger management, we can help organizations to create environments in which people live, learn, work and play with an increased feeling of safety. The Mandt System® provides the foundation upon which organizations add their unique approaches to human services, whether that service is a school, residential treatment center, psychiatric hospital, juvenile detention center, residential or vocational developmental disability services, homeless shelters, etc. Below you will find a representative sample of organizations and the changes they have reported, given in per year averages:

“. . . organizations must realize that to reduce violence in the workplace, we need to increase those elements which lead to workplace safety. This approach will require a change in the culture of the workplace by learning how to “continually move away from coercion” (NAU, 2003) When we are able to find alternatives to coercive interventions, then we can lower the frequency, intensity and duration of restraint and increase safety.”
Bowen, Bob, (2010). Moving Away from Coercion and Enhancing Patient Dignity and Respect , pages 135-150, in Workplace Violence in the Mental and General Health Care Setting. Jones and Bartlett, Sudbury, MA.

There is a direct correlation between lowering the frequency, duration, and intensity of restraint with increased staff morale, increased consumer satisfaction, and decreased costs.
Changing the way people relate to each other at work has a profound and lasting impact on all aspects of service delivery. The people served in organizations breathe the relational exhaust of staff to staff interactions. When the relationships staff have with each other are negative, the air our clients, students, residents, patients, etc. breathe is toxic and this has a negative effect on their behavior. When the relationships between staff change using The Mandt System® skills, the entire environment is changed in healthy, positive ways.
