Laura grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma before moving to Texas to attend Baylor University for her undergraduate degree. She then returned to Baylor to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in Nurse-Midwifery. Laura believes that healthcare should be a partnership between the woman and her provider in order to attend to each patient's unique health needs. She believes in supporting choice during pregnancy and childbirth, and places an emphasis on patient education
