“The Blue Bird Circle clinic has been an incredible resource for children with neurological disorders and has inspired many physicians and physician-scientists to pursue research in the field of child neurology. I will never forget the role the BBC volunteers played in my career as they helped me identify several girls with Rett syndrome through their careful search of medical records in 1983. The BBC volunteers continue to support and help clinician scientists as well patients and their families. With the opening of NRI the fall of 2010, we hope that multidisciplinary basic research and collaborations will lead to a better understanding of disease mechanisms and will bring new treatments to these devastating disorders. Investigators at NRI are fortunate to have a wonderful clinical facility like the BBC clinic where their discoveries can be translated to clinical care”.
