Digital Diagnostic Technology - At Diagnostic Outpatient Imaging (DOI) we use Digital vs. Film Screen Technology for all diagnostic images which are included in all reports. What are the advantages? Besides being able to provide clear digital images on all our your reports, these reports are quickly available online. But, more importantly DOI has invested in the state-of-art equipment to provide better images. Better Images mean better diagnosis and in many cases this can mean earlier detection.
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) - Our High Field MRI is used to find problems, such as tumors, internal bleeding, blood vessel problems, or infection. An MRI may be done with or without the use of contrast material to see abnormal tissue clearly. I many cases, an MRI, can provide for a great alternative (outpatient procedure) to more invasive, expensive and timely diagnostic procedures (i.e. endoscopies where the patient requires a general anesthesia) in evaluating damage or disease.
Digital Mammography - Breast cancer is one of the most easily treated forms of cancer if caught early enough. Our state-of-the art digital equipment is at the helm in helping women beat breast cancer. Based on recent studies by the National Cancer Institute, 65% of women (see DMIST) would benefit by having a digital mammogram vs. a film screen mammogram, yet DOI is one of the few in El Paso offering this service. A digital mammography is able to detect up to 30% more cancers than the tradition film screen mammography and detect abnormalities in breasts up two years before a physical exam or self breast exam can detect.
CT Scans - CT imaging is one of the best tools for studying the chest and abdomen because it provides detailed, cross-sectional views of all types of tissue. This includes bit is not limited to diagnosing many different cancers, including lung, liver and pancreatic cancer.
Women's Health - Dedicated to early detection and prevention provides many diagnostic imaging services to benefit women's health. These services include our state-of-the-art Digital Mammography that can discover abnormalities in breasts up to 2 years before a physical exam, Breast MRIs for high risk women as classified by the ACS, Image Guided Breast Biopsies as an outpatient procedure when necessary, DEXA bone densitometry used to diagnose osteoporosis, evaluate and track the treatment of osteoporosis and to evaluate risk for developing fractures and Ultrasounds for pelvic, fetal, and breast ultrasounds.
Ultrasound at DOI is used to evaluate a fetus, gallbladder, flow in blood vessels, thyroid gland, heart, diagnose some forms of infection and cancer and abnormalities in the scrotum and prostate
Digital X-Rays - Since the technique produces digital images, digital X-rays have all the advantages of digital photos. Digital X-rays can be archived, enlarged, enhanced, manipulated, or subjected to digital-subtraction radiology, a technique whereby a computer compares two images, detecting changes in your body that a radiologist wouldnt otherwise be able to spot.
Image Guided Biopsies are minimally invasive procedures that are guided by fluoroscopy, CT, ultrasound and MRI imaging have virtually replaced exploratory surgery of the chest, breast, abdomen, pelvis, and bone as the standard in medical diagnostics. These image-based procedures are anywhere from three to seven times more cost-effective, are less risky and require less recovery time than exploratory surgery (open surgical biopsies). And most are available on an outpatient basis at DOI.
